A practical property investment checklist
Before investing in a flat or plot, work through these points on budget, location, legal checks and exit plans.

Budget honestly
Include stamp duty, registration, GST on under-construction homes, interiors and loan costs. Keep an emergency fund separate from your down payment.
Location and rental demand
Homes near jobs, metro stations and good schools tend to rent faster. Visit at different times of day before deciding.
Legal checks and exit
Verify RERA registration, title and approvals. Think about who would buy from you later and how long a sale might take. No property return is guaranteed.
